The death of the plastic artist, Jabbaa Sri, at the age of 96

The plastic artist, Jabha Sri, passed away a short while ago, at the age of 96.

The artist, Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem, the Minister of Culture, mourned the death of the pioneering plastic artist, Gathba Serry, who passed away today, Wednesday, November 10, at the age of 96.

Abdel Dayem said: The late woman is one of the prominent signs in the field of Egyptian and Arab formation.

She added: She is a creative person of a special style, and with her works, she recorded the details of life in society in a unique way, and offered condolences to her family, friends and lovers, praying to God to bless the deceased with his mercy.

It is noteworthy that Gazba Serry, born in October 1925, held more than 70 plastic exhibitions in Egypt and the world, and worked as a teacher in many Egyptian universities and the American University in Cairo.

Her works were acquired in many international, Egyptian and Arab museums, and she won many local and international awards, including the Rome Prize in 1952, the Fourth Grand Prize for Contemporary International Art in Monaco in 1968, the State Encouragement Award, the Medal of Science and Arts of the first class, the State Appreciation Award in 1993 and others.
