The United States expressed concern about the conflict in Ethiopia and called for concrete steps to be taken for peace.
Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken spoke with Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen on Wednesday, where Blinken stressed the “urgent need to take concrete steps for peace,” the State Department said.
Blinken reiterated his call on all parties to the conflict, including the Ethiopian government, to engage urgently and seriously in negotiations on a cessation of hostilities without preconditions.
He stressed the need for immediate and unimpeded access to northern Ethiopia and support to all Ethiopian communities in need.
