Moscow – (dpa):
Thousands of homes in Russia were inundated by floods and spring thaw this year, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.
“More than 10,000 homes and 250 sites of community importance, as well as nearly 300 bridges and more than 700 sections of highways,” the ministry told Russia’s TASS news agency.
21,000 people have been identified as victims and about 1,500 people have been rescued.
“The flood risk period of 2021 was characterized by an abnormal water level in the rivers of the Far East, Siberia and regions of southern Russia, as well as hurricane activity, which led to a high level of flooding compared to last year,” the ministry said.
