Bad weather..disruption of studies in 12 governorates, including Cairo and Giza

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, reviewed a report from the Ministry’s Operations and Crisis Management Room on monitoring the weather, rainfall and bad weather conditions in some governorates, including Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Sharqia, Ismailia, Dakahlia, Alexandria, Kafr El-Sheikh, Matrouh, Damietta, Beheira, and North Sinai.

Rain on these provinces

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy explained that the operations room report indicated that the Alexandria governorate was exposed to severe rain with thunderstorms, and the accumulated rainwater pools are being dealt with throughout the governorate.

Ismailia governorate also witnessed heavy rains on most of the neighborhoods with the continuation of raising the water, and North Sinai governorate witnessed heavy and medium rains on the cities of Al-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid, while light rains fell on some villages of the Nakhl Center.

Disruption of studies in 12 governorates

The report of the central operations room of the ministry indicated that the study was suspended in the governorates of North Sinai, Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Matrouh, Menoufia, Gharbia, Damietta, and Dakahlia.

The report highlighted the cessation of rain in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Beheira, Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharkeya, Gharbia, Damietta, Dakahlia and Port Said, and rainwater gatherings are dealt with in neighborhoods, centers and hot spots, while the rest of the governorates are experiencing stability in the weather.

Field presence of officials

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy stressed the heads of centers, cities, neighborhoods and local units to have a field presence in the streets throughout the day to follow up the operations of suctioning water accumulations and stationing suction cars in places exposed to accumulations to quickly withdraw water to reduce the effects of rain and not to disrupt traffic in the streets and bridges houses and take measures and necessary measures in this regard.

Raise the maximum level of readiness

Major General Shaarawy directed to constantly raise the level of maximum preparedness in the governorates that witness bad weather until the weather conditions stabilize, stressing the Ministry’s operations room to follow up on developments in the situation around the clock to quickly deal with any emergency events in coordination with the central operations room in the Council of Ministers.

And he demanded the continuation of the field follow-up in the governorates and the follow-up of the readiness of the equipment for rainwater suction and the readiness of the crews working on it for immediate dealing, reducing the resulting effects and raising the accumulation of water in the streets, main squares and sub-streets.

He stressed the continuation of continuous coordination between all service and vital sectors in the governorates, especially drinking water and sewage companies, traffic departments and civil protection. High cars and maintain safety distances to avoid exposure to traffic accidents.
