Hyundai’s exclusive electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5, was selected as the ‘Car of the Year’ in Germany.
Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 26th that the IONIQ 5 was finally selected as the ‘2022 German Car of the Year’, beating out ‘cost-effective’ cars, luxury brands, and high-performance models released in Germany this year.
The jury, made up of reporters specializing in automobiles, evaluated the vehicle through actual vehicle tests, etc. based on practicality, driving performance, innovation, and market suitability. Five models were selected as finalists: Peugeot 308 (compact category), Kia EV6 (premium), Audi etron GT (luxury), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (New Energy), and Porsche 911 GT3 (performance).
In Germany, which is called the home of automobiles, the car of the year was selected in the field of new energy (electric vehicle, hydrogen electric vehicle, etc.)

Earlier, the Ioniq 5 also swept three categories: ‘2021 Car of the Year’, ‘Medium Business Car’ and ‘Premium Electric Vehicle’ at the New Car Awards of ‘Auto Express’, a British automobile media outlet. In addition, it has received various design awards at the UK ‘Top Gear’ Electric Award, ‘Car Design Review’, and ‘IDEA Design Award’.
