The Education Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Representative Sami Hashem, is discussing, during its current meeting, the briefing requests submitted by MPs to Dr. Tariq Shawqi, Minister of Education and Technical Education, who did not attend the meeting.

A parliamentary source from within the meeting told “Masrawy” that Minister Tarek Shawky did not attend, and Deputy Minister of Education for Teachers Affairs Reda Hegazy attended in his place.

The source added that there is a state of anger among the deputies due to the absence of the competent minister during the discussion of the fate of the students, especially the children, expressing their astonishment at his non-attendance despite the appointment of the session for a long time.

The source noted that even half an hour before the meeting began, there was no denial or confirmation of whether the minister would attend or not, noting that the question that had been asked during the day since the beginning of the influx of parliamentarians was: Is the Minister of Education coming today? And the answer appeared now that he did not attend without knowing the reasons.

This comes as a statement by the Ministry of Education said that Dr. Tarek Shawky is leaving Cairo for Finland, to discuss the field of cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Culture in Finland.

The delegation accompanying the Minister includes Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister for Technical Education, Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operational and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools.
