Wellington – (DPA):
New Zealand’s government says it is “disappointed” by an international DJ’s failure to follow the country’s coronavirus rules, after he was tested positive for the omicron mutant.
Musician Robert Etheridge, nicknamed “Dimension,” came from Britain to New Zealand to celebrate the New Year’s Eve festival and did not commit to self-isolation before receiving the final virus test result.
“Dimension” visited several places in Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, and then the result of the test for Covid 19 was positive.
New Zealand’s COVID-19 response minister Chris Hepkins told media today that it was “really disappointing” that Dimension did not follow New Zealand’s rules.
“In terms of Omicron, it’s not here, we don’t want it here, and our tolerance in that regard is very low,” Hipkins added.
Health officials are still working to trace contacts of the infected musician, and Hepkins warned New Zealanders that they should take Covid-19 seriously.
“Covid-19 is not over here yet,” Hipkins said.
