Major General Mahmoud Sharawy, Minister of Local Development, reviewed a report from the ministry’s central operations room regarding the weather during the wave of instability in weather conditions.
The report indicated that the governorates of Alexandria, Kafr El-Sheikh, Qalyubia, Gharbia, and Giza were exposed to light rains, and there were no rain accumulations, and the port of Alexandria continued to be opened to fishing and navigation.
The rains stopped in Matrouh governorate, and the governorate announced that the study would stop on Saturday, Sunday and the next Monday due to the bad weather, while the rest of the governorates are witnessing very cold winter weather on the coastal governorates, cold on the Upper Egypt, and a noticeable wind activity in all governorates and all ports are open to fishing and navigation.
Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy stressed the continuation of raising the degree of preparedness in all governorates and coordinating between local units and the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company to confront the expected weather in most of the governorates.
Major General Shaarawy also stressed the need for the heads of neighborhoods, cities and centers to be present in the field and to follow up the work of rainwater suction from the main and secondary streets.
The Minister directed the Ministry’s Operations and Crisis Management Room to continuously follow up on developments in the governorates around the clock to expedite dealing with any emergency events in coordination with the Central Operations Room in the Council of Ministers.
