The Ministry of Health and Population announced the initial count of the number of injured in a traffic collision that took place this morning, Saturday, between a bus and a microbus on the “Suez-Tor Sinai” road.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the initial outcome of the accident was 18 injuries, and 16 deaths.
He added that as soon as the accident was reported, the ambulance service paid 13 ambulances, and all the injured were transferred to Al-Zahraa Medical Center in Tor Sinai, Abu Dhabi Central Hospital, and Sharm El-Sheikh International, while the bodies of the victims were transferred to Al-Tur General Hospital.
Abdul Ghaffar said that the injuries ranged from fractures, abrasions, cut wounds, and suspected concussion, noting that all the injured receive treatment and the necessary medical care, until their health condition improves and they recover.
The health spokesman confirmed that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and acting Minister of Health, directed to raise the state of medical emergency in the hospitals in the governorates of Suez and South Sinai, and to summon all medical teams working in the emergency departments, declaring the readiness of all hospitals in the vicinity of the accident and the availability of medicines and medical supplies, as well as About the availability of blood and plasma bags to provide full health care for the injured.
