Addis Ababa – (BBC)

Aid workers in northern Ethiopia say 17 civilians were killed in a drone strike on a town in the northern Tigray region.

One of them explained that the victims in the air strike on Monday in the town of Mai Tzipri, were working in a flour mill.

This comes days after it was reported that more than 50 civilians in a camp for the displaced were killed in another air strike.

Government forces and the Tigray Liberation Front have been locked in a conflict for more than a year.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ethiopia and urged all parties to fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law, allow humanitarian access and ensure the protection of civilians.
