Books – Muhammad Abul-Majd:
Engineer Imad Ghaly, an energy expert, said that the energy session on the second day of the World Youth Forum was between two tracks for the world to go to. The world is on the path of new and renewable energy, and if some countries do not take quick steps, they will start to do so and head towards the path of renewable energy.
Ghali added in a telephone interview to the “Khabar Al-Youm” program on “ONE” channel today, Tuesday, that there was a consensus that countries must change the course of traditional energy, especially with regard to power generation from coal plants due to its environmental damage and health damage in general. General, explaining that Egypt has made very big strides in the field of energy in a short time during the past 6 years.
He continued, that two months ago, there was a global energy crisis and the price of natural gas reached very high prices, within $36 of the BTU, which led to an energy crisis for some countries, and at the same time, Egypt had an abundance of energy due to the steps that took place. Egypt and the giant projects that were implemented in previous years went through it.
And the energy expert added, that Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, announced that the goal that was supposed to be reached in 2022 and 2023, which is 22% in the electricity system, was already achieved at the end of 2021, which is very important that Egypt reached before the goal that I set it to 22%.
He stressed: Egypt sets a goal to reach 42% of renewable energy in the electricity system in 2035, saying: “God willing, it will be achieved at the same pace that Egypt is going.”
