Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, announced today, Tuesday, the launch of a new military operation to “liberate Yemen on all fronts and axes.”

This came in a joint press conference between Awad Muhammad al-Awlaki, the newly appointed governor of Shabwa and a spokesman for the coalition in the city of Ataq, in Shabwa governorate, eastern Yemen.

Al-Maliki added that Operation Happy Freedom of Yemen aims to develop and prosper Yemen so that it can be included in the Gulf matrix.

He praised the sacrifices of the Giants Brigades, the National Army, and all the sons of Shabwa, “who sacrificed this province to liberate it from the Houthi militia.”

Al-Maliki explained that the coalition and Yemeni legitimacy are looking for peace, “but the Houthi militia chose war.”

For his part, the governor of Shabwa announced the complete liberation of the province from the Houthi militia.

Al-Maliki’s visit to Shabwa governorate came a day after the Yemeni army announced the completion of control over all the districts of the oil province of Shabwa and liberating them from the Houthis.

During the past few days, Shabwa witnessed violent battles between the army and Houthi militias in the districts of Usaylan, Bayhan and Ain, and this fighting extended towards the Numan district in Al-Bayda and parts of the Harib district in the Ma’rib governorate.

For more than seven years, Yemen has been witnessing an armed conflict between government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition on the one hand, and Houthi militants accused of receiving support from Iran on the other, after the latter turned against “legitimacy” and took control of the capital, Sana’a, and several Yemeni provinces, by force of arms. .
