After a fire broke out from the ground, an earthquake monitoring station in Dakhla in the New Valley

The Astronomy and Geophysics Research Institute has begun installing a fixed seismic monitoring station in the Dakhla Center in the New Valley Governorate.

Dr. Gad Al-Qadi, Director of the Astronomy Research Institute, confirmed in a statement to “Masrawy” today, Friday, that the station will enter service within 5 days from now, as a specialized team from the Institute will choose the appropriate place to install the station in the “Al-Hindaw” area in the Dakhla Center, where it is located. The phenomenon of fires and fumes coming out of the ground, in order to monitor any seismic activity in the area.

Gad added that the station will enter the national earthquake monitoring system within a few days after the completion of its installation on a square meter area, with the installation of a solar cell as a source of energy for its operation, at a cost of one million pounds from the institute’s budget.
