The great Libyan writer Ibrahim Al-Koni sent a gentle letter to the management of the Cairo International Book Fair, telling them the reasons for his apology for not participating in the next session.
Below is the text of the message:
Honorable Professor Dr. Haitham Al-Hajj Ali, President of the Egyptian General Book Organization, and President of the Cairo International Book Fair, Mr. Shawkat Al-Masry, Director of Cairo International Book Fair Activities and Member of the Higher Committee
While we express to you our gratitude for inviting us to participate in the book fair, we really regret that we were unable to attend, due to urgent health reasons that coincided with our presence outside our residence in Spain, to deprive us of the opportunity to make a pilgrimage to our spiritual, even literal, homeland: Egypt, which She did not skimp on us with her knowledge, so how about the mundane.
We hope that God will help us to do everything that will keep us in good faith, wishing success for your noble person in running the locomotive of gratitude in the vast mother of the world, Egypt.
It is noteworthy that the 53rd session of the Cairo International Book Fair will be held on an area of 80,000 square meters, comprising (5) exhibition halls. The number of pavilions is 879, and the number of publishers, Egyptian and foreign official bodies is 1067 publishing houses and agencies. Where the number of Egyptian publishers (general publication) is 292 publishing houses, the number of Egyptian publishers (foreign books) is 43, and the number of Egyptian publishers (children’s books, educational aids, and school textbooks) is 89, and the number of Egyptian publishers (Islamic and heritage books) is 97. Publishing house, the number of Azbakeya wall libraries is 49, the number of Egyptian publishers (academic book) is 49, the number of Arab publishers is 298, the number of Arab publishers is 1 Agencies: 95 Egyptian agencies and 45 Arab agencies.
