In a poll conducted after the presidential candidates’ first TV debate, the results of the opinion poll on the 7th showed that Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea and Yoon Seok-yeol of the People’s Power were fighting within the margin of error.

The survey was conducted three days after the first TV debate took place, and it is analyzed that the voters’ judgment about the outcome of the discussion was reflected.

By age group, Candidate Yoon received 31.0% in their 20s, ahead of Candidate Lee (19.5%). Even those in their 60s and over received 53.8% of the vote, surpassing Lee (28.9%).

On the other hand, Candidate Lee received 56.8% of the votes of those in their 40s, ahead of Candidate Yoon (23.1%). In their 50s, they received 45.5% of the vote, beating Candidate Yoon (34.3%). In their 30s, candidate Lee 29.4% and candidate Yoon 28.5% were close.

By region, in Seoul, Candidate Yoon received 39.0% of the vote, ahead of Candidate Lee (31.6%). In Gyeonggi and Incheon, Candidate Lee received 39.7% of the vote, ahead of Candidate Yoon (32.9%).

In Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong, Candidate Yoon took the lead with 39.9%, ahead of Candidate Lee (35.2%). In Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do, Candidate Yoon also surpassed Candidate Lee (27.2%) with 40.6%. Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam also received higher support than Candidate Lee (23.3%) with 49.4% of Candidate Yoon. In Gangwon-do and Jeju-do, Candidate Yoon was ahead with 41.4%, ahead of Candidate Lee (36.8%). On the other hand, in Gwangju and Jeolla, Candidate Lee was ahead of Candidate Yoon (14.4%) with 58.8%.

Among the ideologically oriented middle class, Candidate Lee received 33.6% and Yoon 33.4%, respectively. Candidate Ahn received 13.6% of the vote.

This survey was conducted in a telephone interview (100% wireless) method using a structured questionnaire after randomly sampling a sample from a mobile phone virtual number after allocating by gender, age, and region. The sampling error is 95% confidence level ±3.1 percentage points, and the response rate is 20.4%.
