Books – Ahmed Gomaa:
Dr. Yahya Safwat, Professor of Breast Surgery at Qasr Al-Ainy Hospital and Chairman of the Training Committee of the Presidential Initiative “Supporting Women’s Health”, said that it is possible for breast cancer to occur from the age of 10 years.

This came during his speech within the activities of the World Cancer Day to discuss the cancer treatment system in Egypt and early detection, awareness and prevention programs, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health.

“Safwat” explained that diagnosing breast cancer depends on performing a mammogram, adding: “If these scans were taken at a young age, they would not show anything.”

He pointed out that the Ministry of Health is training nurses and rural pioneers to detect breast cancer to reduce the spread of the disease and increase health awareness and education for women.

For his part, Dr. Gamal Amira, Head of the Oncology Department at the Nasser Institute and a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Society of Cancer Sciences, said that efforts to combat cancer began in the fifties, through Kasr Al-Aini Medical Hospital and then the Oncology Institute.
